Patty Baker Humane Society Naples (PBNHSN), Southwest Florida's state-of-the-art no-kill shelter, is seeking candidates for the position of Veterinary Clinic Manager. Our veterinary clinic provides top quality care to the public, and assists in the care of our shelter residents when needed. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer. 

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm. Most days are on site but some flexibility for remote work as needed is available.

Responsibilities 
  • Manage daily operations of the veterinary clinic to ensure efficient flow of patients, maximize revenue, and control expenses
  • Directly supervise Veterinary Technician Supervisor, Surgical Vet Techs, and Client Services Manager to ensure:
    • Effective training of veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client service representatives
    • Efficient coordination between technicians and client services to ensure an orderly and efficient flow of patients through the clinic
    • Proper cleaning, feeding, watering, and general care of patients housed within the clinic
    • Safe and secure practices for handling animal patients, medications, chemicals, and monies
    • Proper operation and care of sensitive and expensive equipment
    • General clinic cleanliness and organization
    • Positive customer service and accurate communication with clients
    • Accurate entry and maintenance of client information and records
  • Scheduling of veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client services representatives for Veterinary Clinic appointments and surgeries, Mobile Veterinary Clinic, and Shelter Intake Clinic as needed
  • Conduct or assist with performance reviews and corrective action of support personnel, including making promotion, demotion, and termination recommendations
  • Ensure positive and efficient collaboration and cooperation with Shelter Intake Clinic
  • Working with the Finance Department, account for revenue and expenditures and provide regular reports
  • Ensure correct allocation and accounting of donated funds for support of certain clients and patients
  • Ordering and inventory management of medications, veterinary supplies, pet food, and merchandise for the Veterinary Clinic, Shelter/Intake Clinic, and Mobile Veterinary Clinic
  • Provide support to Client Services to resolve customer complaints or manage difficult clients
  • Maintain all records and licenses required by local, state, and federal agencies
  • General oversight of student clinical rotations with partner educational programs
  • Address and resolve operational issues with Pulse or other veterinary software
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of and ability to communicate basic veterinary care procedures to clients, such as vaccines, preventatives, and after care. 
 Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of employment in a veterinary clinic in a supervisory position
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and managing personnel, preferably in a professional animal care setting
  • Knowledge of veterinary medicine and companion animal health
  • Knowledge of business management, especially in a veterinary setting
  • Patience and tact with clients and passionate personnel involved in the care of companion animals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Coaching and training skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects
  • Familiarity with Pulse preferred, or ability to quickly learn new software
  • Use and understand common companion animal care and veterinary terminology 
  • Compassion and concern for domesticated animals
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred but not required
 Physical Requirements
  • The ability to see at approximately 20/20 vision with or without assistive devices
  • The ability to hear or read lips with or without assistive devices
  • The ability to use arms, hands, and fingers, including fine motor movements
  • The ability to independently lift up to 40 lbs
Personnel in this position can expect to engage in moderate physical labor, including but not limited to bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, as well as sitting or standing for long periods of time.
